Ervin Redlich Hvalibota’s Biography

Ervin Redlich, president of Futaleufú’s Chamber of Tourism, is one of the founders of “Aguas Libres”. As an active member of this organization, he has a significant role in strengthening the ties with other organizations and communities that support the same cause: to protect Nature and the quality of life of Patagonia.

Born 35 years ago in Chile’s Patagonia, nature always has had a great impact on him who considers himself fortunate for growing up surrounded by such a paradisiacal scenery. Several natural disasters, including the devastation of a mountain’s vegetation, have shaped his mentality towards the environment and his desire to protect nature.

Years later, when he was in Chenqueco, home of the Mapuches, he witnessed the destruction of this land as well as its culture. By that time, the second and largest dam of the Bío-Bío’s River, which was considered as the largest dam of Chile, was built. The destruction of those magnificent landscapes, which were over-flooded made him realize how cultures are directly affected by nature, and how communities are deeply rooted and dependent of the land where they live.

Nowadays, Redlich lives in Futaleufú working with his family’s tourism company “Madre Selva”. He actively participates in the commune, loves sports, music and nature. He is proud of his two daughters, Sigrid and Jazmín, who as him, have also had the luck to live and grow in a clean, safe and secure and magnificent ambience.
